Welcome Young Officers of the Law,
Old friends of mine (and your bosses) have persuaded me to impart to you some of the wisdom I have gathered during my many years as a police detective. Well, to be honest, there is little I have learnt other than this:
I will let these accounts of some of my most perplexing cases speak for themselves. I hope you will be charitable, and allow yourself to bring success from my failures.
